February 3, 2012 - NBA G League (G League)
Iowa Wolves News Release
DES MOINES, IA - The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy never trailed as they rolled past the Dakota Wizards 125-114 Friday night in Des Moines. The win moves Iowa to 18-7 on the season, while Dakota falls to 11-13 on the year.
Iowa jumped out to a commanding 67-48 lead at halftime behind big efforts from guard Mike Efevberha and reserve Nick Murphy. The Energy duo combined for 36 points before the break to push Iowa ahead of their Eastern Conference rivals.
Dakota showed some life in the 3rd quarter as a buzzer beating jumper by Shy Ely brought Dakota to within 92-78 heading into the final twelve minutes. Dakota would cut the lead to 110-99 in the 4th quarter, but an 8-0 Energy run, capped by an Andrew Drevo layup, put the game out of reach.
Efevberha led all scorers with 28 points while Murphy added 23 points and 10 rebounds. The win, coupled with Austin's loss to Canton, give the Energy the NBA D-League top overall record.
Edwin Ubiles and Chris Wright each scored 19 points for Dakota.
The same two teams meet tomorrow night at Wells Fargo Arena at 7pm. The game, which is "Country Night", will be followed by a concert with former American Idol finalist Casey James. Tickets are available by calling 564-8550 or visiting www.IowaNBA.com.
