Jam Stumble Against Erie

February 3, 2012 - NBA G League (G League)
Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD, February 2, 2012 - The Jam had six players in double-figures but it wasn't enough as the Erie Bayhawks (13-13) came out on top with a 116-105 win over the Bakersfield Jam (13-12).

The Jam got off to a slow start right from the tip-off, as the Bayhawks jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead. First quarter was lopsided as Bakersfield's deficit grew to as many as 16 points. It was an uphill battle from there but the Jam put a strong effort in the second quarter as they went into halftime down by only 3 (59-56) led by Jeremy Wise scoring 10 points and dishing out 5 assists in that quarter alone. However, the momentum to end the first half did not carry into the second half as the Jam trailed the whole way and never had a lead in the game, resulting in an eleven point lost to the Erie Bayhawks.

Four of the five starters for Bakersfield scored in double-figures led by Wise's double-double of 19 points and team-high 10 assists. Osiris Eldridge finished the night with 18 points on 8-of-11 from the field and Renaldo Major added 16 points. David Palmer had 10 points and 6 rebounds for the night. Newly acquired and returning Jam player, Derrick Byars led the bench with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Juan Patillo contributed 12 points.

All five starters for the Bayhawks scored in double-figures, including four of the five scoring 20 or more points. Keith McLeod led Erie with 24 points and game-high 12 assists. Tirrell Baines had 22 points and 9 rebounds and D.J Kennedy finished the night with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Kyle Spain added 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bakersfield Jam hit the road and face the Reno Bighorns in a Western Conference battle this Saturday February 4 at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Reno Events Center.
