Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, February 3 - The Erie BayHawks have reacquired veteran NBA point guard Mike James.

James spent three games with the BayHawks earlier in the season before signing a contract with the Chicago Bulls. While with Erie, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest in three games away from Tullio Arena. Following the NBA Development League Showcase, James signed with Chicago, where he appeared in three games, averaging 4.0 points and 3.7 assists in 8.3 minutes per game.

James (6-2, 188) attended Duquesne University before starting his NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2001-02 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He's played nine NBA seasons spending time with ten different teams including Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, Houston, Toronto, Minnesota, New Orleans, Washington, Miami and Chicago.

James holds NBA career averages of 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 25 minutes of play. His best season was in 2005-06 with the Toronto Raptors when he appeared in 79 games and averaged 20.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 37 minutes per game. He spent parts of last season playing in China and Turkey.

James will be active for Saturday's contest in Los Angeles and will square off against newly acquired former NBA point guard Rafer Alston and the D-Fenders. Coincidentally, James and Alston were traded for each other in 2005 (Alston to Houston and James to Toronto). The BayHawks roster now stands at ten players.
