Energy Fall to Jam in Close Game

Bakersfield, C.A. - The Iowa Energy (16-15) fell 118-112 to the Bakersfield Jam (25-10) Thursday night at Dignity Health Event Center.

The Energy were led by Kalin Lucas with 22 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Chris Allen added 22 points off the bench and Larry Owens added 20 points. Iowa combined for 16 three-pointers, with Owens leading the way with six. The Jam were led by Jerel McNeal with 23 points, five rebounds and nine assists.

It was tight battle in the first half between the Energy and Jam. The two teams exchanged the lead eight times during the first quarter. Iowa hit four three-pointers to lead them to a 27-23 lead at the end of the first. The teams exchanged the lead six more times during the second quarter for 14 lead changes in the half. Iowa would make seven three-pointers in the first half and held a 59-56 advantage at halftime. Lucas led all scorers with 14 first half points.

The close game continued throughout the third quarter with eight more lead changes for a total of 22 in the game. Allen nailed three three-pointers for the Energy to pick up nine third quarter points.

Iowa jumped out to nine-point lead to start the fourth on an 11-2 run. Bakersfield responded with a run of their own to tie the game with 6:11 left. With :19.1 left in the game, the Energy trailed by one. A couple of late turnovers hurt the Energy's chance at taking the lead as they fell 118-112 to the Bakersfield Jam.

The Energy travel to Rio Grande Valley Saturday night to take on the Vipers at 7 p.m. Iowa returns home Wednesday, Feb. 25 against the Erie BayHawks. Tickets for Wacky Wednesday are on sale for just $10 and include a sideline ticket and Energy T-Shirt.
