February 20, 2015 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, February 20, 2015 - The Erie BayHawks (13-20) were defeated by the Canton Charge (19-15) for the fifth time in as many games this season after Canton went 6-6 from the line in the final minute to hold on 101-98. The BayHawks were not able to get a shot off as the clock expired as Canton snapped Erie's four-game home winning streak.

John Bohannon, making his first NBA Development League start of his career in place for injured Kadeem Batts, got the scoring going for the BayHawks as Erie started the game on a 13-2 run. Seth Curry would extend the lead with a three nearly midway through the first quarter to give Erie a double-digit lead. Canton's Arinze Onuaku, who has been successful against the BayHawks so far this season, was able score 10 points in the opening quarter to keep within striking distance. However, Jarvis Williams' first quarter buzzer-beating layup gave Erie their biggest lead of the game at 18.

Canton started the second quarter on a 12-0 run, all while Arinze Onuaku was on the bench. Justin Johnson came off the bench to score 10 points as Canton was able to narrow their once double-digit deficit to just three with four minutes to go in the half. The BayHawks answered back by using an 11-0 run to close the half and led 58-48. Seth Curry led all scorers with 16 points.

Canton picked up where they left off early in the second and scored the third quarter's first 11 points to take the lead. Erie couldn't seem to find the bottom of the net, as they were just 1-14 shooting to begin the frame. Onuaku's four straight points gave Canton a seven point lead but Erie was able to trim their deficit to five heading into the fourth after being outscored 27-12 in the third.

Peyton Siva started the final quarter strong, scoring the team's first two field goals. Canton retaliated with five Alex Kirk points on one single possession to give them their biggest lead of the game at eight. Bohannon, who hadn't scored since early in the first, capitalized on an and-one to make it a three-point game.

Down by five with 35 seconds remaining, the BayHawks were able to get steal and turn it into an Austin Daye three. After Canton's James Singleton made both free throws on the other end, Siva scored a quick layup to pull within two again. Singleton buried another two at the line, as Siva would respond again, this time on the charity stripe. Brandon Paul's two free throws for the Charge gave Canton a four point lead with 7.4 seconds left. After using the advance rule, Curry knocked down a three to only trail by one with 5 seconds remaining. Two more Singleton free throws had the Charge up by three. On Erie's final possession, Daye caught the inbounds pass, which went to Curry, but was immediately stripped, as Erie didn't get a chance to tie the game. Erie's final game against the Charge this season is March 6.

The BayHawks were led by Curry's 25 points followed by Daye's 15 off the bench. Onuaku led the Charge with 22 while a total of seven players scored double-figures, including every member of the bench.

The BayHawks face three straight road games starting with the Maine Red Claws Sunday at 5:00 PM. Erie then heads to Iowa to take on the Energy Wednesday at 7:00 PM before heading to Sioux Falls to face the Skyforce the following day at 7:00 PM.
