HIDALGO, TX, Dec 1, 2011- The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy shot a blistering 62.3% from the field as they downed the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 130-117 Thursday night in Hidalgo.

The Energy fell behind early in the game, as the Vipers took a 28-23 lead after the 1st quarter behind nine early points from forward Stanley Asumnu.

Despite early issues with big men Andrew Drevo (foul trouble) and Ben Strong (ankle), Iowa battled back in the 2nd quarter. An 8-0 Energy run, capped by a Moses Ehambe jump shot, put the visitors up 45-42 with 4:51 left before half. Minutes later, Iowa closed the half with a 9-2 run to take a 60-51 lead into the locker room.

The Energy extended the lead to 92-72 in the third quarter, and appeared to be in complete control of the Vipers until an 11-2 run by the home team cut the Iowa lead to just 103-98 with 8:42 remaining in the game.

With the game in the balance, Energy point guard Brandon Ewing took over, scoring nine points in the final quarter to push the Energy past Rio Grande Valley in the final matchup of the regular season between the two teams.

Ewing led the Energy with 30 points and 12 assists, while Ehambe scored 33 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Rookie center Jarrid Famous added a double-double for the Energy as he finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Iowa improved to 2-2 on the season with the win.

Rio Grande Valley was led by 32 points, 8 rebound effort. The loss was the first of the season for the Vipers, who fall to 3-1.

The Energy return home from their four game road trip to host Erie on Saturday in the home opener. Saturday's game will also include the championship banner unveiling and a ring ceremony. Team AcroDunk, a trampoline dunk team, will perform at halftime.
