Emeralds Push Win Streak to Four, Take Down Tri-City 7-4

EUGENE, Ore. -Eugene scored three runs in the eighth inning to break a tie and beat Tri-City, 7-4, in front of 3,669 at PK Park. The Emeralds have outscored their opponents 25-9 during their current four-game winning streak.

Reliever Jae-Hoon Ha picked up the win for Eugene (5-5) after tossing scoreless eighth and ninth innings with three strikeouts and one walk. The converted outfielder is in his first season on the mound and leads the Emeralds with two wins thus far in 2015. Eugene starter Jose Paulino allowed three runs on six hits in five innings with six strikeouts and two walks.

Eloy Jimenez led the Emeralds at the plate with three singles. The outfielder went 3-for-3 with a walk plus a run and a RBI.

The Emeralds scored early, pushing across a pair in the first inning. After a fielder's choice, outfielder Ian Happ stole second and scored on a single by first baseman Matt Rose. Designated hitter Justin Marra drew a walk to push Rose to second before Rose came around and beat a play at the plate on a single by catcher Tyler Alamo.

Eugene scored two more in the second on a RBI single by Jimenez and a sac fly by Happ. Henry Charles hit a solo homer in the second for Tri-City, the first by any team through five games of the Ems' current eight-game homestand, before the Dust Devils scored a pair in the third, including a RBI double by Carlos Belen. Tri-City tied it up on a passed ball in the seventh to make it a 4-4 game.

The Emeralds broke the game open in the eighth, scoring three runs on . Blake Headley broke the tie with a RBI single to center before a ground ball out by Vimael Machin plated another runner. Frandy De La Rosa singled to center to drive in the final run of the inning.
