Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced today that forwards Mike Embach and Shawn Szydlowski have both been released from a professional tryout contract (PTO) signed on March 4.

Embach, 27, went scoreless with two penalty minutes in three games for the Admirals since joining the team less than a week ago from Fort Wayne (ECHL). A Ferris State University product, Embach performed at a point-per-game rate for the Komets prior to agreeing to a PTO with the Admirals. He returns to Fort Wayne with 20 goals, 55 points and is plus-21 through 52 games. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound winger has an assist in 10 career AHL games with Texas, Lake Erie and Norfolk.

Szydlowski, 24, helped set up Colby Robak's first goal as an Admiral last week, his only point during the three-game stint for Norfolk. The Michigan native appeared in three games as an Admiral and finished minus-1. Since 2011, the 6-foot, 210-pound right winger amassed 73 career games and nine assists in the AHL with Portland, Rochester, Binghamton, Lake Erie, and Norfolk. He is reinserted into the Fort Wayne lineup with 25 goals and 51 points in 42 games as a Komet this year.

The Admirals continue on a seven-game road trip, their longest of the season, with a pair of contests in Portland, Maine against the Pirates this Friday and Saturday.
