John Albert was the hero in overtime as the IceCaps picked up an important two points over the visiting Albany Devils at Mile One Centre. IceCaps rookie Chase Balisy, with his 15th goal of the season, opened the scoring, while Stefan Matteau replied for Albany. Connor Hellebuyck didn't have his busiest night between the pipes and earned the win with 28 saves. Albert and rookie Scott Kosmachuk broke in on a two-on-one in the first two minutes of the extra frame to set up the game-winner.

Scott Clemmensen replaced an injured Scott Wedgewood in the second period but it didn't stop the Devils as they topped the IceCaps at Mile One Centre. The goaltending duo combined for 28 saves to earn the win and Reid Boucher picked up a goal and an assist as the IceCaps and Devils played to a split of the two-game series.

IceCaps among league leaders: IceCaps rookie netminder Connor Hellebuyck leagues all AHL goalies in games played (49); minutes played (2871:02) and saves (1471) and is second in wins (26) and tied for second in shutouts (six). Meanwhile, Will O'Neill is fifth in scoring among blueliners (37 points) and Chase Balisy is ninth in rookie scoring with 34 points in 58 games.
Luck of the Irish?: The IceCaps will be wearing their popular St. Paddy's Day white and green jerseys Saturday night versus the Manchester Monarchs.
