Elvis Andrus selected to XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game

Frisco, TX - Frisco RoughRiders shortstop Elvis Andrus was chosen to represent the World in the upcoming XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 13 at Yankee Stadium.

Andrus, a native of Venezuela, is hitting .276 with one home run and 30 RBI in 59 games with Frisco. Andrus also ranks third in the Texas League with 24 stolen bases and is currently the youngest player in the league at 19 years old.

The 10th annual XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game will be played at 12:30 PM on Sunday, July 13 as part of Major League Baseball's All-Star Celebration in New York. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden, and Max Ramirez, who all spent time with the RoughRiders in 2008 were also selected to the game. Davis and Teagarden were selected to the U.S. team while Ramirez was chosen as part of the World team.

Last season, Frisco second baseman German Duran participated in the game.

The RoughRiders, currently riding a season-best seven game winning streak, continue their current road trip in Springfield Friday night at 7:00 p.m. With last night's victory in Springfield, the ‘Riders became the first team in either Triple-A or Double-A baseball to win 50 games in 2008.
