ELMIRA, N.Y. - November 24, 2012 - The Elmira Jackals play their fifth game of a six-game home stand tonight when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at First Arena. The Jackals will try to match their season-high four-game winning streak.

Tonight is the final of three scheduled meetings between the Jackals and Stingrays this season, and finishes up back-to-back games between the teams First Arena. The Jackals are 2-0-0 against South Carolina this season after claiming a 1-0 win last night. The Jackals and Stingrays haven't made friends with one another in their season series. The teams have combined for 134 penalty minutes, 12 major penalties, and four game misconducts in their first two meetings. South Carolina is trying to bring an end to its three-game losing streak while the Jackals want to earn their second four-game winning streak of the season.
With 31 saves in the 1-0 blanking of South Carolina last night Marc Cheverie tied Joel Martin for the most shutouts in an ECHL season for the Jackals at two. The third-year pro out of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia has stopped 99 of the last 102 shots he has faced in his last three starts (2-1-0) and has moved to second in the league with a .935 save percentage. If he can maintain his pace, Cheverie will supplant Dan LaCosta's season best save percentage (.932) and goals-against average (2.15) from the 2007-08 season. Cheverie has allowed three goals or fewer in all but one of his starts, and has held opponents to two goals or fewer in seven of his 10 appearances.
