ECHL Announces Fine, Suspensions

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Saturday announced the following fine and suspensions.

Evansville's Kennedy fined, suspended

Evansville's Patrick Kennedy has been suspended pending a review and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #181, Evansville at Trenton, on Nov. 23.

Kennedy was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding under Rule #41.5 at 18:29 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Kennedy will miss Evansville's game at Reading tonight and will have a hearing with ECHL Hockey Operations next week.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Ontario's Couture suspended

Ontario's Derek Couture has been suspended for one game as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #190, Ontario at San Francisco, on Nov. 23.

Couture was assessed a minor penalty for instigating at 16:10 of the third period, and is suspended under Rule #46.11 as a result of receiving an instigating penalty in the final five minutes of regulation or in overtime.

Couture will miss Ontario's game at Bakersfield tonight.
