
Eleven-Hit Day Leads BG to 4-1 Win Wednesday

Rome, Georgia- Diego Infante had three hits and Dru Baker had two in the Bowling Green Hot Rods (28-18) 4-1 victory over the Rome Braves (27-20) to stay in first place in the SAL South Division on Wednesday at AdventHealth Stadium. The Hot Rods and Braves continue their six-game series in Rome, Georgia on Thursday with a 6:00 PM CT first pitch.
The Hot Rods plated the first two runs of the game in the first against Braves starter Dylan Dodd. Baker led off the game with a single but was retired at second for the second out of the inning on a force that allowed Kyle Manzardo to reach. Infante singled to center with Manzardo moving to second and Osleivis Basabe hit a ground ball to short, reaching on a fielder's choice.
The Braves shortstop, Vaughn Grissom, made an errant throw trying to force out Manzardo, allowing him to score to give BG a 1-0 lead. Heriberto Hernandez singled to left, scoring Infante from second to extend the Hot Rods edge to 2-0.
BG knocked in two insurance runs in the ninth against Braves reliever Austin Smith. Garret Hiott led off with a double to center and went to third when Baker doubled off the wall in left-center. Ronny Simon cleared the bases with a single to center, putting the Hot Rods up 4-1. Joe La Sorsa shut down the Braves bats, throwing three perfect innings to punctuate the win.
Conor Dryer tossed 4.0 scoreless innings, holding the Braves to three hits and a walk with four strikeouts in a no-decision. Matthew Peguero allowed one run on three hits with a strikeout. La Sorsa (3-3) earned a win after throwing 3.0 perfect innings, retiring all nine hitters he faced with four strikeouts.
Notes: Dryer's 4.0 innings of work is a career-high... Infante had his 11th mutli-hit game of the year... That ties Basabe for the team lead... It was also his team-best fifth three-hit game... Baker had his first hit at the High-A level... He also had his first multi-hit game of the year... Simon had his seventh multi-RBI game of the year... He's tied for the team lead with Hernandez... BG is 5-2 in games decided by three runs this season... They've won 22 of 32 night games this season... The season series between the Hot Rods and Braves is tied 4-4... BG keeps a 0.5 game lead in the South Division with Hickory's win on Wednesday... Rome is now 1.5 games back in the standings... The Hot Rods and Braves continue their series on Thursday with a 6:00 PM CT first pitch... Bowling Green will send LH Patrick Wicklander (0-1, 8.00) to the mound against Rome RH Andrew Hoffman (3-2, 2.93)...
