Frederick Keys News Release

Frederick Keys starter Brandon Erbe once again pitched exceptionally well against the Wilmington Blue Rocks ... but it was not enough. Wilmington blew the game wide open with an eight-run eighth inning to defeat the Keys 9-1.

Both Erbe and Wilmington starter Matt Kniginyzky pitched very well in this one. There was no score going into the top of the fifth inning. Wilmington first baseman Anthony Seratelli reached on a bunt single. He then stole second, and scored on a Brett Bigler ground-rule double to give the Blue Rocks a 1-0 lead.

The Keys kept it at a one-run deficit until the top of the eighth. The Blue Rocks sent 12 batters to the plate against relievers J.P. Martinez and Ryan Ouellette. The two pitchers combined to allow eight runs (all earned) on eight hits.

Facing a nine-run deficit with two men out in the ninth, Frederick scored their lone run of the ball game. Todd Davison was hit by a pitch. Justin Johnson singled him to second. Davison scored on a Jason White RBI-double.

Kniginyzky ended up throwing 6.1 shut out innings, on the way to his seventh win of the season. Erbe allowed just the one run in six innings of work. The young right-hander struck out eight Blue Rocks. He got the loss dropping his record to 8-10.

These two clubs will meet once again tomorrow night at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Fireworks will follow the game. For ticket information, contact our box office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS.
