Frederick Keys News Release
Frederick, MD - Keys RHP Brandon Erbe will set a franchise record tonight when he starts for the 48th time in his Carolina League career for the Frederick Keys. In the 20-year history of Keys baseball, no pitcher has started as many games.
Erbe eclipses pitchers Chuck Ricci (1990-92) and Calvin Maduro (1994-95, 2000) who each made 47 starts with the Keys.
Erbe, 20, is a local product from Owings Mills, MD selected in the 3rd round of the 2005 by Baltimore. The right-handed pitcher has been a starter in every Carolina League appearance as a regular in the rotation in 2007-08. In his 47 starts prior, Erbe is 14-17 with a 5.43 ERA, posting 225 strikeouts in 233 and 2/3 innings.
He will make the historic start tonight against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.
The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and are the reigning Carolina League champions. For information regarding season ticket or group plans for the 2008 season contact the Keys at 301-815-9900.
