Edmonton assigns players to Grrrowl

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced that the Edmonton Oilers have assigned seven players to Greenville who were released from the Edmonton Roadrunners training camp. MIKE MORRISON (G), KENNY SMITH (D), ED CARON (F), TOMAS MICKA (F), MARTIN ST. PIERRE (F), and JEAN-FRANCOIS PLOURDE (F) will be added to the Grrrowl roster in the next couple of days as they arrive in Greenville.

AHL CONTRACT PLAYERS:

MIKE MORRISON (6-3, 200lbs., goalie, Medford, MASS) was a 7th round pick of Edmonton in the 1998 NHL entry draft. Played last season in Toronto (AHL).

KENNY SMITH (6-2, 210lbs., defense, Stoneham, MASS) was a 3rd round pick of Edmonton in the 2001 NHL entry draft. Played last season at Harvard University.

ED CARON (6-4, 200lbs., forward, Kitchener, ONT) was a 2ND round pick of Edmonton in the 2001 NHL entry draft. Played last season at the University of New Hampshire.

TOMAS MICKA (6-3, 190lbs., forward, Jihlava, Czech Republic) was an 8th round pick of Edmonton in the 2002 NHL entry draft. Played last season in Columbus (ECHL).

MARTIN ST. PIERRE (5-9, 185lbs., forward, Emburn, ONT) played last season with the Guelph Storm of the OHL.

J.F. PLOURDE (5-10, 185lbs., forward, Gaspe, QC) played last season in Columbus (ECHL) and Toronto (AHL).

The Grrrowl will open the 2004-05 schedule with a home game on Friday, October 22, 2004 (opening weekend presented by Verizon Wireless) against the Charlotte Checkers.
