Reading, PA - The Manchester Monarchs and Hershey Bears, AHL affiliates of the Reading Royals, have assigned several players to the Reading. The Monarchs assigned forward Jeff Miles and goaltender Barry Brust, while also releasing forward Dan Sullivan from his player tryout agreement. In addition, the Hershey Bears have assigned forward Paul Cabana to Reading.

Miles, 23, was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the ninth round, 268th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. The Pickering, Ontario native signed a two-way contract with the Royals and Manchester Monarchs and attended the Monarchs training camp. Prior to his professional career, the 6-foot, 190-pound forward spent four seasons at the University of Vermont. He appeared in 132 contests for the Catamounts and tallied 45 goals, 82 assists for 127 points and 94 penalty minutes.

Brust, 21, was a third round selection, 73rd overall, of the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The rookie goaltender is currently under contract with the Los Angeles Kings and attended the Kings rookie camp along with the Manchester Monarchs training camp. The 6-foot-2, 216-pound goaltender spent the last four seasons in the Western Hockey League for the Spokane Chiefs and Calgary Hitmen.

Sullivan, 23, signed an ECHL contract with the Royals on September 3, 2004. The big forward attended the Manchester Monarchs training camp in New Hampshire. The Weston, Ontario native is entering his third professional season. He missed all of last season due to injuries. Sullivan does have 45 games of ECHL experience with the former Roanoke Express and Baton Rouge Kingfish.

Cabana, 26, was a 6th round selection, 149th overall, of the Vancouver Canucks in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a two-way contract with the Royals and Hershey Bears and reported to the Hershey Bears training camp in September. The right-winger from Calgary, Alberta spent the last two seasons in the ECHL with the Columbia Inferno and AHL's Manitoba Moose. Cabana attended Michigan Tech from 1998-2002 before turning pro.

The Reading Royals are entering their fourth season in Reading, Pennsylvania after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. The Royals enjoyed their first Kelly Cup playoff appearance last season, claiming the Northern Division Title and were one win away from qualifying for the Kelly Cup Finals.

The Reading Royals open their fourth season Saturday, October 23 at 7:05 in the Sovereign Center against archrival Trenton. The fun begins at 2:00 p.m. with the 2nd Annual Bleed Purple Block Party! Food vendors, kids games, Miller-Keystone Blood Center, Alex's Lemonade stand and live entertainment will be on Penn Street outside the Sovereign Center. The first 7,000 fans through the gates at game time receive free Royals Bleed Purple t-shirts, plus a live jersey auction will be held at the conclusion of the game!
