Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The ECHL and the Utah Grizzlies today released the team's schedule for the 2008-2009 season. The Grizzlies continue second round playoff action Thursday at the E-Center hosting Victoria at 7:05 p.m. The best-of-seven series, which is currently tied at one following two games in Canada this past weekend, will also continue Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
Utah is proud to be affiliated with the New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The Grizzlies schedule is very balanced featuring only one road trip as long as five games (February 27-March 7; Alaska, Bakersfield, Ontario, Stockton) and two home stands as long as five games (November 21-29 and February 4-11).
In 2008-2009, for the third-straight season, the Grizzlies will open on the road when they travel to Boise to take on the Idaho Steelheads Saturday, October 18 at 7:10 p.m. 08-09 marks the first time in four ECHL seasons that Utah will not open up against the Phoenix RoadRunners.
The home opening weekend for the Grizzlies is Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 when they will host Alaska. Ironically, the Aces will be Utah's final two home games in the regular season on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4.
The Grizzlies will visit their current second round opponent, the Victoria Salmon Kings for the third week of the season when they travel to Canada for games Wednesday, October 29; Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1.
For the second time in four seasons, an American Conference opponent will visit the E-Center when the Reading, Pennsylvania Royals head west to Utah January 6 and 7. Utah took two of three games from the Texas Wildcatters in March of 2007 at the E-Center.
In 2008-2009, the ECHL welcomes the Ontario, California Reign. The Reign make their first trip to Utah Wednesday, November 5; Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8. Utah will visit the inland empire for the first time Friday, January 16 and Saturday, January 17.
Utah will make their first trip to Selland Arena in Fresno Sunday, January 18. The Falcons, Utah's opponent in the first round of the playoffs, will move from Save Mart Center on the campus of Fresno State University back to their previous home downtown for 2008-2009.
All Utah home games will once again start at 7:05 p.m. with one Sunday home game scheduled with Fresno on Sunday, March 15 slated for 4:05 p.m.
