April 30, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced their 2008-09 schedule. The Cyclones will play 72 games during the season, with all 36 home games being played at U.S. Bank Arena. The Cyclones were the 2008 North Division regular season champions and play the fourth game of the North Division Finals tonight at 7:30pm against Reading at U.S. Bank Arena.

The Cyclones will open the 2008-09 season at Wheeling on Friday, October 17. The club opens at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday, October 25 with a clash against Dayton.

The Cyclones will host nine games on Friday nights and eleven on Saturdays. A total of ten home games will be played in January, double the number that the club had last season. The squad will head south for a three city, six game, nine day trip from February 6-14 (Florida, Pensacola and Mississippi).

For the first time, Cincinnati fans will get their first in person look at Gwinnett, which will come to town March 18-19. The Cyclones will play eleven of the 23 other teams in the ECHL, with nine of those teams visiting U.S. Bank Arena.

Single game tickets will be priced at $22.50 for VIP seating (first row along the glass) and all other seats will be priced at $10 each. Season ticket plans are currently on sale and can be purchased by contacting the Cyclones at 513-421-7825, x. 144. Discounts of up to 33 percent over single game ticket prices can be obtained when purchasing full 36 game season tickets. A complete promotional schedule will be released in the weeks ahead by the team.

"We are very excited about the schedule for the 2008-09 season," U.S. Bank Arena Vice President/General Manager Kristin Ropp said. "Attendance picked up after January 1 this season and to have 13 of our weekend dates in the second half of next year is going to really help us."

The ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 24 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Nineteen of the 24 teams have played at least five years in their current city.

The third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League, the ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans.

The Premier 'AA' Hockey League welcomed 3,756,191 fans, marking the fifth straight season and the 11th time in the last 12 years that it has exceeded 3.75 million fans. The 51 sold out crowds are the most in the last five seasons and mark the fourth time in the last five years that the ECHL has had at least 40 sellouts.

The conference and division alignments and the format for the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be determined and approved at a later date by the ECHL Board of Governors.

Tickets for the 2008-09 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. Ticket packages are available for every budget, call the Cyclones at 513-421-PUCK (7825) for more details. The home season starts on Saturday, October 25 when the Dayton Bombers come to U.S. Bank Arena.
