Earthquakes Trade Conway to MetroStars

The San Jose Earthquakes acquired a fourth round draft pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft from the MetroStars in exchange for goalkeeper Jon Conway on December 5. Conway, 28, began his Earthquakes career in 2000 after being selected in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft. In his Quakes career, the Aston, PA native appeared in 18 games over six seasons and posted a 1.51 goals against average. His best season came in 2004 when he started five games, finishing with a 2-2-1 record, two shutouts and a career-low 0.60 goals against average. One of the longest-tenured Earthquakes players, Conway leaves the team having played six consecutive seasons with San Jose. Midfielder Ian Russell, who also joined the Quakes in 2000, is now the longest continuously serving member of the team.

Quakes midfielder Ricardo Clark is currently in Spain for three weeks of training with Real Valladolid of the Spanish second division. Valladolid, a city that lies to the northwest of Madrid, currently sits in third place in the second division. Clark traveled to Spain after Thanksgiving and will return to the United States in mid-December following his training stint.
