San Jose Earthquakes News Release
Over the past week, the San Jose Earthquakes announced a pair of signings ahead of the 2022 MLS season. The club today announced the signing of former Stanford midfielder Will Richmond to a Homegrown Player contract, becoming the ninth Homegrown signing in club history. Last Thursday, the club signed Slovakian midfielder Jan Gregus after selecting him with the seventh pick in Stage 2 of the 2021 Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft in December.
Last week, defender Marcos Lopez (Peru) and midfielder Jackson Yueill (U.S.) were both called to their respective national team January camps. Both camps will serve as an opportunity for players to build match readiness and compete for roster spots in preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Earthquakes will be participating in MLS SuperDraft 2022 presented by adidas on Tuesday, Jan. 11, beginning at 12 p.m. PT. The Quakes currently hold four total picks (8, 36, 64, and 89) in the three-round event. For more information, click here.
