Earthquakes to Participate in 2017 MLS SuperDraft on Friday

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes will participate in the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Friday, January 13 in Los Angeles, Calif., commencing at 12 p.m. PT. San Jose currently holds one selection in each of the four rounds - sixth, 28th, 50th and 72nd overall. The first two rounds of the draft will be streamed live from L.A. on MLSsoccer.com and the final two rounds will occur at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17 via conference call.

In the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, the Quakes selected goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell (No. 8 overall), midfielder Patrick Hodan (No. 28), defender Kip Colvey (No. 49) and midfielder Ty Thompson (No. 69). Colvey appeared in four matches (three starts) and tallied one assist, while Tarbell appeared in one match and spent the second half of the season as David Bingham's primary backup.

The Earthquakes currently have six players on their roster that the club selected during past SuperDrafts - Chris Wondolowski (2005 - No. 41), Shea Salinas (2008 - No. 15), Quincy Amarikwa (2009 - No. 32), Fatai Alashe (2015 - No. 4), Tarbell (2016 - No. 8), and Colvey (2016 - No. 49).
