Houston Dynamo Announce 2017 Preseason Schedule

HOUSTON- The Houston Dynamo will open preseason training in preparation for their 2017 MLS campaign on Wednesday, January 25, the club announced today.

Over the course of six weeks, new head coach Wilmer Cabrera and his staff will work to finalize the roster and shape the team that will take the field for Houston's 2017 season opener against the defensing MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders on Saturday, March 4 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The team will hit the field for the first time in 2017 on Tuesday, January 24, and the Dynamo will hold their annual open practice, which is free and open to all fans, on Saturday, January 28. Both training sessions will take place at Houston Sports Park. The exact times for those training sessions have not been determined, but will be announced in the coming days.

After two weeks of training in Houston, the Dynamo first team will make its first-ever trip to the Rio Grande Valley from February 3-8 to practice with RGV FC, the club's hybrid USL affiliate and the team that Cabrera coached in 2016. The Dynamo will play a pair of matches while in the Valley, taking on RGV FC on Saturday, February 4 and a yet-to-be-determined opponent on Tuesday, February 7.

After a brief return to Houston, the team will make its annual pilgrimage to Tucson, Arizona to compete in the Desert Diamond Cup preseason tournament. The team will play four games in Tucson, facing off against MLS foes New England Revolution (February 15), New York City FC (February 18) and New York Red Bulls (February 22) before a final game on February 25 which will be determined based on the results of the first three games in the tournament.

All of the Dynamo's matches in Tucson will be streamed live via HoustonDynamo.com/LIVE free of charge.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Dynamo return to Houston and begin final preparations for Opening Night the following weekend.

The Dynamo open the 2017 season on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. CST against the defending MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders FC at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets for the opening match start at $20 and are on sale now at HoustonDynamo.com, by phone at 713-276-GOAL and at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office. Season tickets for the entire 2017 home campaign are also available, starting at $310, by phone at 713-276-GOAL.
