San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes re-launched their team website Thursday morning as part of a league-wide project by Major League Soccer to re-brand digital content.
After seven months of development, Major League Soccer and its teams re-launched their websites late Wednesday night and Thursday morning. MLS worked with Rocket Fuel, the same company that produced the NHL's network of websites, to roll out a new digital look for the start of the 2010 season.
The revamped SJEarthquakes.com includes a fresh facelift to the global design, improved multimedia content and an advanced "Match Center" that will give fans up-to-the-minute views from the field. The Quakes will also host a team blog that will cover a wide range of team-related topics.
Additionally, the new SJEarthquakes.com will feature a fully integrated social landscape for diehard fans and casual observers to interact. Fans can utilize personalized avatars, link to friends and comment on content while signed onto the Earthquakes site.
The Match Center interface is a unique technology that will put Major League Soccer at the forefront of the digital-sports landscape. Fans watching from home or trying to track down a recap from the match can click through live updates in the Match Center. Brief video highlights will accompany actions denoted in a minute-by-minute update queue, giving fans the ability to catch all the key plays from match day.
The Earthquakes open their season against defending MLS Cup Champion Real Salt Lake on Saturday, March 27 at Buck Shaw Stadium. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and the game will air live on Fox Soccer Channel, KDOW and KZSF (Spanish).
