FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Two first-inning Fort Wayne errors proved costly Sunday, as the TinCaps fell behind 2-0, eventually losing, 5-1, against the Dayton Dragons. With the win, the Dragons evened the four-game series at one game each, and tied the season series at six games each.

Fort Wayne (32-23, 63-61) starter Erik Cabrera (0-2) worked five innings and allowed just one hit. Two unearned runs scored against him in the first, as Dayton (22-31, 53-70) took advantage of several TinCaps miscues. Juan Perez walked to begin the game, and with one out, he moved up to third base on an error by center fielder Travis Jankowski, who dropped a fly ball off the bat of Dayton's Joe Terry. Spencer Dickinson then hit a ground ball back to the mound, which was fielded by Cabrera, who threw to second. Shortstop Jace Peterson mishandled the throw, eventually picking it up to get an out at second base. Perez came across to score, making it 1-0 Dayton. Kyle Waldrop then doubled, and as Yeison Asencio threw the ball back in from right field, first baseman Connor Powers could not handle the throw, which allowed Dickinson to score, increasing the lead to 2-0.

Dragons lefty Ismael Guillon (1-0), making his Midwest League debut, dominated the Fort Wayne offense. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out five over six innings. The Tincaps went just 1-3 runners in scoring position over the course of the ballgame.

Fort Wayne's lone run scored in the bottom of the seventh, when the TinCaps trailed, 5-0. With Yeison Asencio on base, Austin Hedges lofted a fly ball to right, which Dragons right fielder Kyle Waldrop lost in the sun. Asencio came home from third on Hedges' single.

Game three of the four-game series is scheduled for Monday evening at 7:05. The scheduled starters are Frank Garces for the TinCaps and Jacob Johnson for the Dragons.
