BURLINGTON, Iowa (8/19/12) - Trailing 4-to-3 entering the eighth inning, the Burlington Bees (63-61, 31-24) came back to defeat the Kane County Cougars (62-63, 28-27) 7-to-4 on Sunday afternoon. The Bees had a record of 3-50 when trailing after the seventh inning, but earned their second comeback win against the Cougars.

The Cougars broke a 3-to-3 tie with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Seth Frankoff allowed a leadoff single to Alex Llanos who eventually scored on an RBI single by Chris Elder. The Bees trailed 4-to-3 entering the eighth inning.

The Bees had a 3-50 record when trailing after the seventh, but a 53-1 record when leading after the eighth. Knowing that, the Bees' offense got to work in the bottom of the eighth. The Sean Jamieson led off with his team-leading 64th walk. Max Muncy followed with a single and eventually got to third base on a groundout to the third baseman off of Douglas Landaeta's bat.

Wade Kirkland got to 3-and-0 before he was intentionally put on first base. With the Bees trailing 4-to-3 with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Bobby Crocker crushed his second two-run double of the game to center field. Jamieson and Muncy scored to give the Bees a 5-to-4 lead.

Royce Consigli followed with an infield single that drove in Kirkland, and John Nester eventually hit into a groundout to the second baseman that scored Crocker. The Bees scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth on three hits and three walks.

The win marked the second time the Bees have come back to beat the Cougars after trailing entering the eighth inning. The first win came in the first meeting between the two clubs on April 12 when the Bees forced extra innings after tying the game in the ninth. Wade Kirkland eventually hit a two-run walk-off home run to give the Bees a 9-to-7 win. The Bees had not defeated the Cougars at home since that day and are now 2-4 against the Cougars at the Hive.

A.J. Cole gave the Bees a solid performance, but didn't factor into the decision. After tossing a no-hitter through four innings, Cole allowed one earned run on two hits in his fifth and final inning on the mound. The right-hander also walked two batters and struck out three.

Seth Frankoff (5-7) got the win after he pitched 2.1 innings and only allowed one earned run. Jose Macias earned his sixth save in ten chances after he closed the door in the ninth.

The Oakland Athletics' first round pick (11th overall) Addison Russell made his first start for the Bees in game two. The 18-year-old short stop struck out three times, but walked in the eighth inning to keep the Bees four-run rally going.

Home plate umpire Dustin Klinghagen threw Bees' skipper Aaron Nieckula out of the game in the seventh inning. Nuke displayed signs of frustration with Klinghagen at different points in the first six innings before the umpire dismissed him in the top of the seventh.

The Bees have Tanner Peters (2-4) scheduled to start game three, which is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on Monday. For more information on Bees baseball call (319) 754-5705 or visit www.gobees.com.
