Fredericksburg Nationals News Release

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Fredericksburg rallied after a first inning deficit, but couldn't get over the hump in a 6-3 defeat against the Pelicans on Friday night. The FredNats are 24-13 now, while Myrtle Beach is 15-21.

The Pelicans jumped on Jarlin Susana early, putting runners on first and second base with just one out in the first inning. Alfonsin Rosario then hammered a ground ball back up the middle to drive home Myrtle's first run of the night. Andy Garriola followed Rosario with a two-run triple, giving the Pelicans a 3-0 lead after an inning.

Susana settled down from there and worked into the fourth inning, but was pulled with a runner on first base. Samuel Vasquez then allowed an RBI double to make it 4-0, and later a wild pitch put the Pelicans in front by five. Later in the frame, an E5 put Fredericksburg in a 6-0 hole.

The FredNat bats were held scoreless, until the top of the seventh inning. Elijah Green hustled out an infield single that allowed Brandon Pimentel to score. Fredericksburg capitalized on a couple defensive miscues by Myrtle Beach as well, with a wild pitch and an E2 turning into two more runs for the Nationals, trimming the deficit to 6-3.

From there, the Pelican bullpen buttoned it up, and preserved a 6-3 win for Myrtle Beach. Nick Dean (2-0) nabbed the win, Jarlin Susana (0-5) took the loss, and Francis Reynoso earned his second save.

Marc Davis (0-0, 3.38) gets the ball for Fredericksburg tomorrow, against the Pelicans' Juan Bello (0-1, 1.66).
