Eagles Wrangle Las Vegas 4-3

LOVELAND, Colo. -The Colorado Eagles (9-3-2) wrangled the Las Vegas Wranglers (5-10-1) at the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday night. The Eagles bested the Wranglers in the three game series going 2-1-0 against Las Vegas this week.

Las Vegas forward Geoff Paukovich scored the game's first goal on a breakaway to give the Wranglers an early 1-0 lead, just 2:36 into the first period. Colorado didn't waste much time in retaliating as forward Luke Fulghum took a shot from the slot beating Vegas goalie Mitch O'Keefe on an Eagles power play to tie the game at 1-1.

Over halfway into the second frame, Wranglers defenseman Jeff May capitalized on a power play to give Las Vegas the 2-1 advantage. Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow tied the game up at 2-2 with a wrap-around goal 14:24 into the second. Not even a minute later captain Riley Nelson bested O'Keefe on a breakaway to put the Eagles in the lead, 3-2.

The Wranglers would not let this match-up go easily. Just over three minutes into the third stanza forward Geoff Irwin tied the game, 3-3. With less than one minute left in the game Colorado forward Trent Daavettila scored the Eagles second power-play goal of the night to secure the Eagles 4-3 win.

The Colorado Eagles are set to take on the Alaska Aces on Wednesday, November 27 and Friday, November 29 at the Budweiser Events Center with both games starting at 7:05 pm.
