Eagles Defeat Thunder

LOVELAND, CO- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-2 to the Colorado Eagles at the Budweiser Events Center on Friday night. The Thunder grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Troy Ofukany deflected Mark Adamek's blue line shot beyond the reach of Eagles' goaltender Mike Mole at the 3:22 mark in the first period. Colorado answered back just over two minutes later on the power play. Jason Deleurme hit the backdoor on Scott Campbell on Aaron Schneekloth's shot from the point at 5:41.

The Eagles rallied for three goals in a span of 2:43 early in the second period, getting scores from Riley Nelson, Adam Hogg, and Felipe Larranaga. Brad Thompson cut into the lead at 13:07, scoring shorthanded on a breakaway, but the Eagles answered back at the 17:34 mark to re-extend their lead.

Scott Campbell took the loss, saving 32 of 37. Colorado's power play goal in the first snapped Wichita's streak at 28 consecutive penalty kills. The Thunder was 0 for 6 on the power play, and is now 0 for its last 25.

Prior to the game, the Thunder officially signed right wing Kyle Bruce, who played for Wichita in 2007-08. Left wing Brandon Kaleniecki was activated from the 14-Day IR, while Jason Duda was shifted from the 14-Day IR to the 30-Day IR. Wichita also waived rookie forward Chris Trafford.
