Texas three goal third period effort falls short of win

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - From boring to ugly to interesting, all in a span of 58 minutes, is how the Brahmas 4-3 loss against the Gorillas can be described Friday evening in Amarillo.
It was a safe first period for both teams but things turned for the worse in the second for Texas as they gave up three goals despite outshooting the Gorillas 9-7. It all started when James Jerberg beat Joe Palmer a minute in the middle frame. Shortly after the Gorillas created a two goal gap as Jason Beeman recorded his goal of the season with Amarillo's 13th shot on net.
Frustrations built following the goal and it was Brahmas defenseman Luke Lucyk and Chris Cloud who tangled up and earned five minute fighting majors. In the last minutes of the period Texas found themselves down two men with Tyrell Mason and Kevin McLeod sitting in the sin bin simultaneously for over one minute which only meant trouble for the purple and black. Rod Aldoff took advantage of the Gorilla 5-on-3 opportunity to put Amarillo up 3-0 headed into the second intermission.
The Brahmas have built a reputation for being relentless, and their determination was proven in their play in the final period beginning with a powerplay goal from A.J. Gale off of a Craig Minard shot. Seconds later a turnover behind Gorilla's netminder Mike Brown found its way to the back of the net, again from Gale. The game tying goal was credited to Pete Rouleau and came from a deflection in front of the net.
With two minutes remaining in the game, Lucyk tripped on the blueline and coughed up the puck ultimately leading to an Amarilo 3-on-1 breakaway. Jake Morisette netted his sixth goal of the season and the game winner.
The Brahmas will turn around for a game Saturday evening at home against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. On Sunday Texas will host a game against their I-20 foes, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, for a 4:05 PM faceoff. The game will feature a Championship Ring Presentation prior to the start.
