Rapid City, SD - The Rapid City Rush raced to a 3-0 lead and went on to a 5-1 win over the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday, November 6 in South Dakota. With the loss, the RiverKings dropped to 5-5-0 on the season, but still lead the Northern Conference standings of the Central Hockey League by one point over the Colorado Eagles.

Rapid City opened the scoring with three first period goals, two of which came on the power play. Brendon Hodge and Scott Wray's power play goals were sandwiched around a full strength goal from Les Reaney for the 3-0 first intermission lead.

The RiverKings answered with an unassisted goal from Stephen Margeson to cut into the Rush lead at 3-1. But, Reaney scored with six and a half minutes remaining to give Rapid City back the three goal lead at 4-1 after two periods.

In the third period, Reaney and Derek Campbell added goals for the final 5-1 margin.

Mississippi goaltender Ray Jean (5-3-0) took the loss with a 17-save effort in 33 minutes of work. Ian Keserich came in after the fourth Rapid City goal and stopped 11 of 12 shots on net. Danny Bottochio was the winning goalie for Rapid City with a 27-save performance to improve his record to 2-1-0.

The RiverKings played the game without their coach Kevin Kaminski, who was called away on a family emergency.

The same two teams finish up the weekend set on Saturday, November 7 at 8:05 PM Central time. Next home action for the RiverKings is Tuesday night, November 10 against the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. It's Non-Profit Expo Night, with several area non-profits being spotlighted.
