Eagles Comeback in 2-1 Win

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- The Colorado Eagles defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds 2-1 Saturday night at the Chevrolet Centre. The Eagles came back from a one-goal deficit to win their fourth straight game and increase their lead in the Central Hockey League. Colorado has not lost a game to the SteelHounds in two seasons and they improved their record to 44-15-1 tying their record for most wins in a season. Riley Nelson scored his 500th career point on the Eagles first goal of the game and Paulo Colaiacovo saved 25 of 26 shots in the win. The Eagles have just four games left on the regular season schedule including one more game against the SteelHounds on Sunday afternoon.

Stephen Margeson scored his second goal in as many games against the Eagles at the 18:09 mark of the first period giving the SteelHounds a 1-0 lead. Youngstown outshot the Eagles 10-4 in the period and held the one-goal lead going into the intermission.

The teams traded a few chances in the second period until Riley Nelson scored his 500th career point on a power play goal at the 17:00 mark. Nelson was assisted by Brad Williamson and Ryan Tobler tying the game at one after two periods.

In the third period, Seth Leonard scored his second goal in as many games against the SteelHounds at the 11:54 mark. It was an unassisted goal and gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead. They held on to the lead to win their eighth straight game against the SteelHounds. They have never lost a game against Youngstown. Final Score: Eagles 2 - SteelHounds 1.
