Rookies Lift Scorpions to Impressive Victory

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions rookies have played strong all season and tonight was no different. Four different rookies scored en route to a 5-1 victory over Odessa Friday night.

After surrendering the game's opening goal to Odessa 's Nathan Ward, the Scorpions took control and never looked back. Rookie of the year candidate Ryan McLeod, tied the game up late in the first period.

New Mexico poured on the scoring in the second period, erupting for three goals. Konrad Reeder, Mike Falk and Mike Prpich, three more rookies, all tallied inside the Santa Ana Star Center.

The third period calmed down and one of the old guard lit the lamp. Scorpions' captain Rob Guinn finished the night's scoring with a wrist shot from the side wall.

The Scorpions will head to Amarillo on Saturday for a divisional showdown. The game begins at 6 p.m. and can be heard on 610 The Sports Animal. On Sunday afternoon, New Mexico will head to Lubbock for a 4:05 p.m. showdown with the Cotton Kings.
