Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

SERIES FINALE WIN: Dunedin defeated Palm Beach by the final of 10-6 in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays tacked on three runs early in the top of the second. Samad Taylor ripped a two-run bomb to left for his fifth homerun of the year. Cal Stevenson followed later in the inning with a single to left to score Norberto Obeso to cap off the runs scoring second. The two teams exchanged runs in the third and in the visiting half of the fourth, Stevenson ripped a line drive to left center that rattled around in the alley to allow Cal to circle the bases for his second inside-the-park homerun in 2019 and extend Dunedin's lead to 5-1. RHP Maximo Castillo started for Dunedin and went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs, on six hits, and striking out five but did not factor in the decision. Palm Beach chipped away though with three runs in the sixth on Luken Baker's three-run shot to left, and tied the game off RHP Sean Rackowski with a run in the bottom of the eighth on Zach Gahagan's RBI single. The two clubs remained tied at five apiece until the 11th when the D-Jays busted out for five runs. Palm Beach mustered a run in the bottom of the frame, but fell short as RHP Emerson Jimenez picked up the victory after completing two innings in the 11th.

TONIGHT'S ACTION: The Blue Jays visit the Fort Myers Miracle for game one of a three game series at CenturyLink Sports Complex. Tonight's game marks the fifth of a seven game, eight day road trip and the fifth in a string of 10 straight games against South Division opponents. Dunedin has gone 27-23 overall against Florida State League South Division opponents in 2019.

AGAINST FORT MYERS: The Blue Jays and the Fort Myers Miracle play for the first of three matchups between the two clubs this week in Fort Myers, FL. Today is the seventh 14 matchups between the teams in 2019. The two clubs will play a four game set at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium including a doubleheader on August 26th with the series concluding on the 29th. The D-Jays and the Miracle split the four game series back in early April in Fort Myers. The Blue Jays won the season series 9-2 in 2018 and have won 12 of 16 going back to last season.
