Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
HICKORY, N.C. - Brandon Dulin drove in four runs and the Intimidators beat the Hickory Crawdads 6-1 on Tuesday night in game two of a doubleheader at L.P. Frans Stadium. Dulin finished the night 3-for-4 with two doubles, tying a career-high and setting a new season-high with four RBI, as the Intimidators (27-23) earned a doubleheader split after dropping game one.
Kyle Kubat (3-2) earned the win, tossing two scoreless frames out of the bullpen while allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout. Reliever Danny Dopico, making his first career start, took no decision allowing just three hits and one run in 4.0 innings of work while striking out four and walking one. Crawdads starter Kyle Cody (1-6) took the loss allowing six runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Kannapolis scored first in the opening frame when Jameson Fisher walked with one out and scored on a two-out single through the right side by Dulin.
With the score tied 1-1 in the third inning, the Intimidators grabbed a lead they would not relinquish. After back-to-back hits by Joel Booker and Fisher with one away, Mitch Roman scored Booker on a fielder's choice making it 2-1. Dulin followed by plating Fisher with a double to left-center field giving Kannapolis a 3-1 lead.
The I's added three insurance runs in the top of the fifth inning when Dulin brought in two more on an RBI double down the right field line. Roman scored from third a few moments later on a wild pitch to make it 6-1.
The 3-game series wraps up on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. as RHP Blake Hickman makes his professional debut for Kannapolis against Hickory's RHP Edgar Arredondo (2-2, 5.91 ERA).
The Intimidators return home on Thursday, June 1, to open a 4-game homestand against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The upcoming home stand features such promotions as Thirsty Thursday on June 1, Salute to the A.L.
