Summary
The Akron RubberDucks shut out the Erie SeaWolves 2-0 for their fourth straight win behind Xzavion Curry's six scoreless innings on Tuesday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Akron jumped out in front early once again starting when Jose Tena singled to start the third inning. After back-to-back walks worked by Ike Freeman and George Valera to load the bases, Will Brennan grounded out to the Erie second baseman, which allowed Tena to score and make it 1-0 RubberDucks.
Mound Presence
Curry allowed a leadoff walk to open the ballgame before settling in and retiring the next 10 SeaWolves in a row. In total, Curry tosses six scoreless innings allowing just two hits while striking out five. Tim Herrin followed with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts. Nic Enright tossed a scoreless inning to pick up the save.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks added on in the fourth inning when Tena lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Jonathan Engelmann and make it 2-0 Akron. Erie kept the Akron offense quite the rest of the evening holding the Ducks to 0-for-7 with RISP.
