Norfolk Admirals News Release

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announce that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled forward Dany Heatley and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, and reassigned forward Chris Wagner to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.

Bryzgalov, 34, landed in Norfolk on Tuesday for his first games since last May when he backstopped the Minnesota Wild in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Anaheim Ducks recently signed him to a one-year contract and sent him to the AHL this past week before placing him as Frederik Andersen's backup. Bryzgalov went 1-1 in two games versus Springfield last weekend, earning a 2.53 goals-against average and .915 save percentage. The Togliatti, Russia native currently owns a 220-158-53 record in 459 NHL games along with a 2.46 goals-against average and .913 career save percentage.

Heatley, 33, finished rehabbing a lower-body injury with two games in Norfolk over the weekend, his first in the AHL in his 14-year career. Heatley went scoreless, picked up two penalty minutes and finished at minus-3 on the weekend. The second overall pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft has 372 goals and 791 points in 867 career regular-season games in the NHL.

Wagner, 23, was called up to the Ducks back on December 3rd. At the time of the assignment, Wagner led the Norfolk Admirals in goals (8) and points (15), in just 14 games played. The Wellesley, Massachusetts native became only the second Admirals' skater to record two short-handed goals in a single game on October 11 versus Hershey.

The 6-foot, 202-pounder has not suited up in a contest for the Ducks since being called up from the Admirals in early December. He played in two contests with Anaheim earlier this season, most recently on November 15th when he recorded a career-high 7:08 of ice time.

The Admirals return to the Scope ice on Friday evening to host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Face-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Scope Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Season tickets are also still available at the Admirals Administrative Office located at Scope Arena.
