Long Island Ducks News Release
(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 15, 2006) - The Long Island Ducks today announced that they will be teaming with Long Island Cares/Harry Chapin Food Bank to host their annual food drive prior to their Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 contests against the Road Warriors.
Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable items like canned goods, paper products and diapers. People will be able to drop off items at the designated areas outside the gates of Citibank Park on each game day beginning two hours prior to first pitch.
If you cannot attend either contest and would still like to donate food, the Ducks will also accept donations at the Customer Service window at any home game or at the front desk of the Ducks executive offices during normal business hours.
Donations will be collected by Long Island Cares Harry Chapin Food Bank, who will in turn distribute the donated items to families in need in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
The 2004 Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks' wide-reaching involvement in the community has been growing since the team's inception in 2000. For further information, please visit www.liducks.com or call the public relations department at (631) 940-3825.
