
Baker's dozen tops Ducks

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 15, 2006) - The Ducks were defeated by the Barnstormers, 13-4, in front of 6,156 fans at Citibank Park on Tuesday evening.
Reggie Taylor put the Barnstormers off on the right foot with a solo home run in the game's opening at-bat. Lancaster then added two more in the frame before scoring three runs in each of the second and fourth innings before posting four in the fifth to wrap up their tally at 13. Taylor finished the night 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored.
Kevin Haverbusch got the Ducks on the board in the second with a solo home run off starter Eric Ackerman (4-3). Long Island's 12-hit evening was led by Mel Stocker who finished the evening with three hits while Ray Navarrete, Erick Almonte and Bucky Jacobsen each added a pair.
The Ducks and Barnstormers will play game two of their three-game tilt on Wednesday evening at 7:05 p.m. Southpaw Pete Hartmann (6-4) will take the hill for Long Island against Scott Sobkowiak (7-2). The first 1,500 in attendance will receive team photos courtesy of Dominic's of New York. Ducks Tales...On his 26th birthday, Mel Stocker finished the evening 3-for-4 with his team-leading 42nd stolen base of the season...Erick Almonte extended his hitting streak to nine games...Rob Cafiero pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. He did not walk a batter and struck out three...The Ducks are 16-3 in their last 19 home games, but all three losses have come at the hands of the Barnstormers... This evening's crowd of 6,156 raises the total to 2,927,618 fans that have enjoyed baseball at Citibank Park since April of 2000...The Ducks now need 72,427 fans to reach the 3,000,000 mark.
