North Little Rock - After their most successful road trip, the Arkansas Travelers couldn't put it together against the Tulsa Drillers and suffered an 8-1 loss on Tuesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. Tulsa lefty Brandon Durden (5-10) had control of the game snapping a personal four-game losing streak. Durden allowed just six Travs batters to reach base over eight innings adding three strikeouts for his second win against the Travs. Tulsa broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning and tallied at least one run in each of the last five innings.

Tulsa left fielder Anthony Jackson sparked Tulsa's 13-hit attack with three base hits and three runs scored. He reached base four times on a double, triple, single and a walk adding a stolen base.

After the loss to Tulsa the Travs' second half record falls to 26-31 (52-75 overall), and the Drillers improve their second half record to 32-25 (61-65 overall).

Michael Anton (5-10) suffered the loss after he started and threw six innings, giving up five runs on eight hits. Anton set a season high in strikeouts after earning nine against the Drillers.

The Drillers jumped ahead early with a lead off double to right center from Anthony Jackson. Jackson moved to third on a wild pitch from Anton, and then scored on a balk giving the Drillers a 1-0 lead.

After the lead off double from Jackson, Anton set down the next 11 batters in a row including eight batters on strikes.

The Travs answered back in the bottom of the fourth. Alexi Amarista earned the first hit for the Travs with a two-out blooper right behind shortstop. Charlton Jimerson then hit a line drive triple to right center, which scored Amarista and tied the game 1-1.

The Drillers retook the lead in the top of the fifth starting after a lead of single off the glove of diving Travs third basemen Ricky Alvarez. Jackson then hit a two-out triple to right center to give the Drillers a 2-1 lead. Jackson came into score on a wild pitch from Anton increasing the Drillers lead to 3-1.

The Drillers added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jordan Pacheco hit a chopper to short, which Abel Nieves tried to back hand. The ball bounced up at the last minute and hit Nieves in the palm and allowed Pacheco earn his first hit. Jason Van Kooten then doubled into right center, which brought Pacheco in to score increasing the Drillers lead to 4-1. Scott Beerer put down a sacrifice bunt that moved Van Kooten to third with one out. The Travs brought the infield in to make the play at the plate, but Michael Mitchell single off the diving glove on Nieves to bring home Van Kooten pushing the Drillers lead to 5-1.

Jackson led off the seventh inning against reliever Anthony Ortega with a single, and stole second to put himself into scoring position. Van Kotten reached first on a two-out walk, and Beerer hit a shallow fly ball into left that should have been caught but left fielder Ryan Mount took a bad route and let it fall in front of him. On the hit, Jackson scored increasing the Drillers lead to 6-1 and runners were left on the corners. Mitchell then struck out to end the inning.

The Travs tried to get things going in the bottom of the eighth after a book ruled double from Ryan Mount that bounced over the right field fence. Alvarez singled to right putting runners on the corners, but Mitch Blackburn hit a hard line drive right at the shortstop and got Alvarez doubled up after he got caught to far off first base.

The Drillers added two more runs in the eighth and ninth inning. In the eighth inning Matt Repec hit a two-out double and was scored on a single from Charlie Blackmon. In the ninth inning Steven Geltz entered the game for the Travs. Van Kooten walked and was moved to second on a wild pitch. Van Kooten was then brought home to score on a single from Radames Nazario, which made the score 8-1.

The Time of game was 2:33 and the paid attendance was 3,230.

The Travs return to the field on Wedsenday night at Dickey-Stephens Park against the Tulsa Drillers. The Travs will start right-hander Ryan Brasier (7-10, 5.63) against the Drillers right-hander Cory Riordan (7-5, 4.17). The game will start at 7:10 and the gates will open at six.
