Lake County Captains News Release


(Eastlake, OH) - The Dayton Dragons (29-39) used three long balls to defeated the Lake County Captains (30-37) by a score of 9-3 on Friday night at Classic Park. In the sixth inning, with one man on clean up man Steve Selsky hit a two run homer to left field into the bleachers and the score was 8-3 Dayton. The Captains have now allowed 47 Homeruns on the season

Lake County scored first after Francisco Lindor walked in the first inning, and then Jordan Smith hit a double down the left field line and Lindor motored around from first base and the score after one inning was 1-0 Lake County.

In the second inning, Dayton sent nine men to the plate and scored four times. Steve Selsky singled to begin the inning, He later scored on a base hit by Sean Buckley. With two runners on base, Juan Silva hit a three run homer to left center field and the score was 4-1 Dayton. The homerun was the first of the season for Silva.

Lake County battled back in the bottom half of the second inning, Alex Monsalve and Todd Hankins walked with one out and then Leonardo Castillo singled to left field to load the bases. Zach MacPhee hit a deep fly ball to left field and the sacrifice fly made the score 4-2. Luigi Rodriguez then singled home Hankins and the score was 4-3 heading to the third inning. In the third inning, three one out singles by Ryan Wright, Kyle Waldrop and Sean Buckley plated another run for Dayton and it was a 5-3 Dragons lead.

In the eighth inning Dayton added on. The first hitter of the inning was Junior Arais. Arias hit a homerun to left field, his third of the season and the score was 9-3 in favor of Dayton.

RHP Radhames Quezada (5-6) took to the mound for Dayton and earned the win. Quezada pitched five and one third innings and scattered five hits, allowed three runs all earned with five walks and he fanned three. Cole Green relieved Quezada and Green pitched two and one third scoreless innings and allowed one hit, two walks and also hit one batter. El'Hajj Muhammad pitched the ninth for Dayton and struck out two.

RHP Joe Colon (5-7) got the start for the Captains and took the loss. Colon pitched five and two thirds innings and allowed 12 hits, seven runs, six earned, one walk and six strikeouts and also allowed one homerun. Francisco Valera pitched two and a third innings, and allowed four hits, two runs both earned and gave up two homers. Antwonie Hubbard entered the game for the Captains and pitched one inning and walked two while striking out one.

Saturday is a Fireworks Saturday Night presented by Monreal Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks extravaganza and it is Ladies Night presented by Malibu Rum, featuring Malibu Rum drink specials for the ladies.

Saturday will be Pink the Park Night. $2 from each pre-sale ticket will be donated to ACS Making Strides. Fans can order tickets on-line using the promo code Pink. Survivors will take the field with the team prior to the game. Saturday is also Bike night and there will a pre-game motorcycle rally in the Lake Health Plaza beginning at 5:30 PM. Prior to the game, the first 150 bikes will be able to participate in an on field parade. It will be Hungarian Heritage night on Saturday night and traditional Hungarian food will be served and Hungarian music will be played.

Saturday's Game time is 7:00 PM and the Captains will send RHP Cody Anderson (4-4, 3.27) to the mound to start the ballgame. LHP Tanner Robles (4-3, 4.57) will get the ball for the Dayton Dragons. There are only two games remaining on the first half for the Captains this season.
