MIDLAND, Mich. - Kevin Patterson homered twice as the Lansing Lugnuts (46-21) nearly rallied back from six-runs down against the Great Lakes Loons (33-35), but fell one run short in a 7-6 loss on Friday night at Dow Diamond.

The Lugnuts used the long ball to power their comeback attempt in a game that they trailed 6-0 entering the sixth.

Solo homers from Kevin Pillar (2-for-3, two runs, two stolen bases) and Kevin Patterson in the sixth and seventh innings respectively woke up the Lugs offense.

A Jesus Arredondo sacrifice fly lifted Great Lakes to a 7-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh, but Lansing quickly responded against reliever Juan Rodriguez.

With one out in the eighth, K.C. Hobson (2-for-4, two RBI, run) blooped a two-run single to left. Patterson (2-for-4, two HR, 3 RBI) followed by drilling a line shot to left-center to bring Lansing to within one run.

It was as close as the Lugs would get. Yimi Garcia (Save, 11) set Lansing down in order in the ninth to preserve the series-opening victory for Great Lakes.

The Lugs found themselves down early when Marcus Walden (Loss, 5-2) got off to a rough start after allowing five hits and three runs in the first two innings. He finished after throwing five innings, allowing six runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out a pair.

Loons starter Arismendy Ozoria (Win, 4-3) was great in his five shutout innings against the Lugnuts offense. The righty struck out a season-high seven while walking three and giving up just two hits.

Patterson's multi-HR night is the first by Lansing this season.

Aaron Munoz added his first three hits in a Lugnuts uniform during a 3-for-4 night.

The Lugnuts continue their final three-game series of the first half in Midland, Michigan on Saturday, June 16th, at 7:05 p.m., with All-Star lefty Justin Nicolino (2-0, 1.34) on the mound for the Lugs opposed by Loons righty Gustavo Gomez (4-6, 5.40).

The Lugnuts' next home game will take place on Friday, June 22nd, opening the second half against the Great Lakes Loons. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
