Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Lansing Lugnuts (affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) in the third game of a four-game series.
Season Series: Dayton 12, Lansing 6 (At Dayton: Lansing 3, Dayton 3).
Dayton in This Series: 1-1 (Team Batting Average: .324; Team ERA: 3.50).
The Race: Dayton will qualify as the wildcard entry in the Eastern Division Second Half race by finishing ahead of South Bend and Lansing in the second half standings. Entering tonight's games, Dayton is two games behind South Bend for the spot with eight games to play. Dayton and South Bend have three head-to-head games remaining on the schedule.
Last Game: Dayton exploded for 18 hits in a 10-6 victory over Lansing on Saturday night in the second game of the four-game series. Kevyn Feiner hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs to lead the Dragons. Cody Puckett had three hits including a two-run homer. Alex Oliveras had four hits in five at-bats. Tony Brown had three hits. Starting pitcher J.C. Sulbaran earned the win (5.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 9 SO).
Today's Starting Pitcher: Ezequiel Infante makes his sixth start for the Dragons. In his last start on Tuesday at South Bend, Infante pitched well but was not involved in the decision (5 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO). He is 0-1, 3.46 in five starts after going 1-0, 1.72 in eight relief appearances with the Dragons. Infante started the 2009 season in extended spring training before debuting with Billings when the Pioneer League season began in June. With the Mustangs, he pitched in just three games (1-0, 1.42) before being promoted to the Dragons on July 4. In 2008, Infante pitched with the DSL Reds and allowed just one earned run in 47 innings, posting a 0.19 ERA. He is a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
