Dayton Dragons News Release

Peoria, Ill.-Hak-Ju Lee went 5 for 5 including a two-run single in the seventh inning that gave the Peoria Chiefs the lead as they came back from a four-run deficit to defeat the Dayton Dragons 10-8 on Friday. The Chiefs swept the three-game series.

Dayton led 8-4 before Peoria scored three runs in the sixth inning and then added three more in the seventh as Lee touched up Dragons reliever Pedro Villarreal (3-7) for the two-run single with two outs that gave the Chiefs a 9-8 lead. The Dragons bullpen allowed six runs in three and two-thirds innings of work in suffering their league-leading 21st blown save of the year.

The Dragons took a commanding lead in the top of the first inning. Andrew Means drilled the first pitch of the game for his first home run of the season. Ryan LaMarre reached on an infield single and went to third on a single to right by Henry Rodriguez. Rodriguez stole second and after Frank Pfister was hit by a pitch, Josh Garton drew a bases loaded walk to force in LaMarre. Kevyn Feiner followed with a two-run single to center field to make it 4-0.

The clubs traded runs as the Dragons took the four-run lead into the bottom of the sixth.

Dragons starting pitcher Tim Crabbe struggled with his command. He lasted just four and one-third innings, allowing seven hits and four runs with four walks and two strikeouts. Jason Braun replaced Crabbe and allowed three runs in one and one-third innings. Villarreal entered the game in the sixth and worked two and one-third to take the loss, giving up four hits and three runs with a wild pitch and two hit batsmen.

Dayton finished with 11 hits. Means and Rodriguez were both 3 for 5. Feiner was 2 for 4 with three runs batted in.

The Dragons (7-14) play at Burlington, Iowa against the Burlington Bees (10-10) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (EDT). J.C. Sulbaran (4-5, 4.38) will start for Dayton against Burlington's Tyler Sample (3-6, 3.95). The next home game is Wednesday, July 21 vs. the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
