August 17, 2018 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release
DAYTON, OHIO - The Midwest League today announced its 2018 full-season all-star team and additional player awards. The full-season all-star team consists of nine position players and four pitchers from all 16 teams. The team was selected through a vote of Midwest League managers.
Dayton Dragons catcher Hendrik Clementina was selected as the designated hitter on the full-season all-star team, while Dragons closer John Ghyzel was selected as the right-handed relief pitcher.
Clementina is tied for second in the Midwest League in home runs with 17. His slugging percentage of .521 would rank second in the league, but he has not reached the minimum number of plate appearances to qualify. Clementina has played in 82 of the Dragons 121 games, batting .268 with 52 runs batted in.
Ghyzel leads the league in saves with 18. He has appeared in 38 games, posting an ERA of 3.49. He has struck out 52 batters in 38.2 innings.
