Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Lake County Captains (affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) in the last game of a three-game series.
Season Series: Dayton 11, Lake County 6. At Dayton: Dragons 10, Captains 2. Current Series: Dragons 2, Captains 0.
Last Game: Thursday: Dayton 5, Lake County 4. The Dragons trailed 4-1 after four innings but battled back with two in the fifth and two in the sixth to win. Mark Kolozsvary's two-run home run in the fifth got the Dragons to within a run, and an RBI double by Jonathan India along with a sacrifice fly by Alejo Lopez in the sixth gave the Dragons the lead. The Dragons bullpen combination of Dauri Moreta (3 IP, win) and Ryan Nutof (1 IP, save) retired the last 12 Lake County hitters over the final four innings.
Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons are currently three and one-half games behind West Michigan in the race for the #2 seed in the Second Half. There are 17 games to play.
2018 Team Notes
The Dragons have won their last two games after losing eight straight. Six of the eight losses (and one of the two wins) came by one run.
