
Chiefs Announce 2019 Schedule

PEORIA, IL - The Peoria Chiefs have announced their 2019 Midwest League schedule with the first pitch of their 37th season coming on the road in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Thursday, April 4 with the home opener set for Saturday, April 6 against the Beloit Snappers. Game times and promotions will be announced during the off-season and the first 2500 fans through the gates on Fan Appreciation Night (August 31, 2018) will get a 2019 Magnet Schedule.
The Chiefs open the 2019 season April 4-5 with two games in Cedar Rapids against the Kernels marking their fourth straight season opener in the state of Iowa. The first homestand includes two games against Beloit and a four-game series against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Chiefs are home for 13 games in April, 15 in May, 13 in June, 14 in July and 15 in August with the final regular season home game on August 30 against Beloit. The longest homestand of the season is seven games, which happens multiple times. The longest road trip takes the Chiefs to three states for nine games in 10 days July 17-26. The Chiefs end the first half at home on Father's Day, June 16 against Burlington and also open the second half at home on Thursday, June 20 against Cedar Rapids. The season ends Monday, September 2 at Clinton.
For the first time since 2008 the Chiefs are not home on the fourth of July with a game that night in Clinton, Iowa. The Chiefs are home on July 3 against Kane County. The Midwest League will not hold games on Easter Sunday (April 21) or Mother's Day (Sunday, May 12) The Chiefs are on the road for Memorial Day (at Cedar Rapids) and Labor Day (at Clinton). The 2019 Midwest League All-Star game is in South Bend, Indiana on Tuesday, June 18.
The Chiefs play Wisconsin 19 times, the most of any opponent with 11 of those games in Appleton. The most frequent visitor to Dozer Park will be Quad Cities with 10 games in Peoria followed by Burlington and Kane County with nine each. The Chiefs go to Clinton the most with four trips totaling 12 games. The Chiefs face Cedar Rapids and Clinton 18 times each, Quad Cities 16 times and 15 each against Beloit, Burlington and Kane County. The least the Chiefs will play a team at home is six games against Clinton.
The Midwest League schedule again features just three games against each of the eight Eastern Division squads. The two-week inter-divisional games are scheduled for April 30 - May 11 and July 10-22. The Chiefs change opponents in 2019 and will host Dayton (Reds) and Bowling Green (Rays) April 30 - May 5 before traveling to West Michigan (Tigers) and South Bend (Cubs). In the second half the Chiefs are home against Lansing (Blue Jays) and Great Lakes (Dodgers) July 10-15. After a day off the Chiefs travel to Fort Wayne (Padres) and Lake County (Indians) July 17-22. The Chiefs have not hosted Dayton, Bowling Green, Lansing or Great Lakes since 2016.
Promotions, game times and more information on the 2019 season will be announced this fall and winter. New season tickets for the 2019 season will go on sale this fall while current season ticket holders can currently renew their ticket plans with their account representative. Group tickets will also go on sale this fall while individual game sales will go on sale as the season approaches.
