Beloit, WI - On the Dayton Dragons (20-18, 55-53) current road trip, the Miami Valley's team is as hot as the weather. Riding the momentum of two late inning come from behinds wins at Peoria, the Dragons opened up a four game series at Pohlman Field against the Beloit Snappers (22-17, 57-50). Dayton ran out to a 7-0 advantage and managed to hang on for the club's fourth straight win taking the first game of the series 8-5 at Pohlman Field.

Dayton picked up three runs in the top of the ninth inning at Peoria on Monday night to take a 3-1 win away from the Chiefs. Good thing continued to come in threes on Tuesday as the Dragons opened with three in the top of the first inning against Snappers starter Jose Cordero (LP, 0-2). Habelito Hernandez got the Dragons on the board with an RBI single scoring Eric Eymann who drew a one out walk and moved to second on an Adam Rosales single. With two on and the bases loaded after a walk to Bobby Mosby, Craig Tatum ripped a double into the left field corner that scored Rosales and Hernandez to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead.

Daniel Guerrero (WP, 2-3) got his sixth start of the season since joining the Dragons and got off to a quick start retiring the first seven Beloit hitters he faced. Juan Leger picked up a one out single in the third to become the first Beloit base runner.

Cordero making his fourth start since getting moved out of the Beloit bullpen fell apart in the top of the fourth as the Dragons picked up four more runs. The first two batters of the inning picked up walks and a Cordero error on a ball hit by Josh Holden loaded the bases with none down. Mike DeJesus cleared the bases with a gap double to right center scoring all three runners and a 6-0 lead. An Eric Eymann grounder booted and thrown away by Toby Gardenhire scored DeJesus from second for a 7-0 Dragons lead.

Beloit picked up three in the bottom of the fourth inning Erik Lis got the first Snapper run home with an RBI single. The Snappers added two more runs on a pair of two out double by Eli Tintor and Juan Portes. In his 5.0 innings of work, Guerrero gave up six hits with three strike outs and no walks.

The Snappers used three more pitchers on the night to get through the first game of the four game series. Dan Leatherman (ND) followed Cordero with 2.2 innings of two hit one run baseball. Hernandez added an RBI single off Leatherman in the sixth inning for his second RBI of the game to give Dayton an 8-4 lead.
