
Dragons Announce Nominees for Batter, Pitcher of the Month

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons have announced their nominees for the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for July. Fans can go to www.daytondragons.com to vote for the players whom they who they feel are most deserving of the award based on the month.
Each month, three hitters and three pitchers will be selected as nominees based on their performances on the field. The winning players will be honored on Thursday, August 4 during an inning break of the Dragons game. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 5 at Donatos Pizza, 5120 North Main Street in Dayton. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.
Below are the nominees for July (statistics through July 28):
Hitter of the Month Nominees:
* 1B/DH Dominic D'Anna �C D'Anna is batting .338 with four home runs and a team-leading 21 runs batted in for the month.
* 1B/DH Donald Lutz �C Lutz is batting .298 for the month and is tied for the team lead in home runs with five. He has also driven in 15 runs. He leads the team in slugging percentage at .560.
* 2B Ronald Torreyes �C Torreyes leads the team in batting for the month at .412. He has added two home runs and 16 runs batted in. His .559 slugging percentage is second on the team. He leads the team in hits with 42.
Pitcher of the Month Nominees:
* LHP Blaine Howell �C Howell is 1-0 with a 1.26 earned run average in nine relief appearances for the month.
* RHP Daniel Renken �C Renken has made five starts and is 3-0 with a 0.93 earned run average, best among starting pitchers. He also leads the team in strikeouts with 35.
* RHP Daniel Wolford �C Wolford has not allowed a run during the month, going 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in nine relief appearances covering 14.2 innings.
