It's a Party at the Park when the Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 30th to open a seven game home stand. Here's what you can expect over the next seven games:
July 30 - August 1 vs. Beloit
The Kernels open a seven game home stand on Saturday, July 30th with a three game series against the Beloit Snappers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. The Kernels invite fans to attend a peanut/nut-free baseball game on July 30th. No products containing peanuts or tree nuts will be served at Perfect Game Field and the stadium will be cleaned of any remnants of nut residue before the game. Alternative snacks will be served in the concession stands during the game. And following the game, enjoy a spectacular fireworks show, presented by Mix 96.5 FM. Gates open at 5:30 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Snappers is set for 6:35 pm.
Kids eat free at the ballpark on Sunday, July 31. You heard right - the first 1,00 kids through the gates when they open at 1:00 pm receive a coupon for a free hot dog, popcorn and 12 oz. soda from the special stands on the concourse. The Kernels and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes present the second Faith Day of the season. Fans can bring a church bulletin or print the Faith Day flyer from the Kernels website to get club and plaza tickets at the group rate. The game will include a testimonial on the field prior to the game and there will be 'Resources that Build Your Faith' booths on the concourse, featuring local groups and organizations. It's also a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Day, featuring Travel Advisors Baseball Vacation Bingo, Papa Balloon and face painting by Funny Face Designs by Lori, storybook princess Ariel (presented by GSE), and running the bases and playing catch in the outfield, thanks to Wickwire Chiropractic and Wellness Center. The Kernels welcome special guests from Manchester to their community day at the ballpark. Gates open at 1:00 pm with first pitch set for 2:05 pm.
It's our last noon game of the season on Monday, August 1st so take a break from the office and enjoy some daytime baseball when the Kernels take on the Snappers at 12:05 pm. Enjoy our Noon Game Lunch Combo Special of a sandwich, chips or popcorn and soda or beer for just $7 presented by Z 102.9. Gates open at 11 am and first pitch between the kernels and Snappers is set for high noon.
August 2-5 vs. Quad Cities
The Kernels continue their home stand with four games against the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. It's a Z 102.9 Two Dollar Tuesday when the Kernels host Quad Cities on August 2nd. Regular hot dogs, peanuts, pretzels, bottled soda and water and 12 oz. draft beer are all just two bucks! Every Wednesday home game is a Kernels Facebook Friends night at the stadium, so make sure you've 'liked' the Kernels on Facebook to receive an exclusive offer you can use when the Kernels take on Quad Cities on Wednesday, August 3rd. It's Four Oaks Night at the stadium. The Kernels will be wearing special jerseys that will be sold via a silent auction during the game with the proceeds to benefit Four Oaks. First pitch between the Kernels and River Bandits is set for 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.
Bring your thirst to the ballpark on Thursday, August 4th for 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday. Bottled soda and water is just $2 all game and 12 oz. draft beer is just $1.50. Tip the Fox DJ's that are pouring beer at the special stand on the concourse as their tips will be donated to a local charity. The Kernels welcome special guests from the CR Jefferson Band of Blue and Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids to the game. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.
The home stand wraps up on Friday, August 5th when the Kernels take on Quad Cities at 6:35 pm. Everyone loves fireworks and the Kernels have a special post-game fireworks show presented by Bank of the West. The Kernels also welcome groups from the Boy Scouts, North Liberty and the El Kahir Shrine to the game. It's also a FRITOS Family Friday where fans will have an opportunity to take part in special ballpark experiences such as throwing out a first pitch or being on the radio with Kernels broadcaster, Morgan Hawk. Fireworks nights are the most popular games of the season so get your tickets early for the best seats. Gates open at 5:30 pm.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
